Spider paid $5M for the 22,000-square-foot development site

Spider enters into the hotel sector with it´s trendy millennials concept

Miami-based Spider, a full service real estate investment company, will develop a 44-key hotel on land it acquired last year in North Beach.

In July, Harding Excalibur LLC, an entity controlled by Spider principal Andres Goldenberg, paid $5 million for the 22,000-square-foot plot at 8011, 8017, 8021 and 8035 Harding Avenue. Now, the developers plan to bring a modern, five-story boutique hotel aimed at millennials to the North Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach.

Behar Font & Partners designed the 27,500-square-foot project, which will include an open lobby with multifunctional spaces, a breakfast area, and a rooftop sun deck with a pool. Pending permits, Spider plans to complete construction on a 12-month schedule.

“We only see very high-end or low budget hotels with very standard proposals in the area,” Goldenberg said in a press release. North Beach has historically been known as a quiet community with single-family homes and low-rise apartment buildings.

Nearby, Terra Group will build a 20-story, 64-unit luxury condo tower at 8701 Collins Avenue. And closer to Spider’s development site, investor Guy Smilovich will renovate an Art Deco building at 8200 Harding Avenue. That will connect via a courtyard to a luxury apartment building that will include a mechanical-lift parking system.

Spider is also active in Edgewater, where it plans a 27-story, 56-unit tower called Spark, also designed by Behar & Font.
