NEW HOTEL BRAND COULD DEBUT IN MIAMI BEACH

The new Own Hotel brand could get its first location in a new building in Miami Beach.

The city’s Design Review Board will consider the proposal for the four-story hotel in the North Beach area on April 5. It was filed by Harding Excalibur LLC, a subsidiary of Miami-based Spider led by Andres Goldenberg. He said it would be a millennial-focused hotel and would attract bookings through airbnb and online sites.

"We will provide a comfortable price for a well located hotel," Goldenberg said.

He said the hotel would have few amenities and no restaurant in order to keep the rates affordable.

The 22,000-square-foot site at 8011, 8017, 8021 and 8035 Harding Ave. currently has three two-story apartment buildings. That would be replaced by a hotel with 44 rooms, 22 parking spaces and a pool. The project would total 49,853 square feet, with 27,486 square feet for the hotel space.

Behar Font & Partners designed the Own Hotel.

"We only see very high-end or low budget hotels with very standard proposals in the area," Goldenberg said. "Therefore as developers we want to offer a trendy concept in which you can have a boutique hotel, highly comfortable and medium rate."

The developer acquired the site for $5 million in July 2015.

Spider also has several boutique multifamily projects in Miami's Edgewater and Midtown neighborhoods.
